Xiaomi Corporation was founded on March 3, 2010, and is a global mobile internet company and innovative technology enterprise specializing in smart hardware, electronic products, chip development, smartphones, smart electric vehicles, communications, finance, internet television, and the construction of a smart home ecosystem. In August 2022, Xiaomi climbed to 266th place in the Fortune Global 500 list, significantly improving its ranking by 72 places. Xiaomi also acquired autonomous driving technology company Deepmotion Technologies, positioning itself in the core technology of autonomous driving.
Xiaomi is the third-largest smartphone manufacturer in the world and the largest consumer-level smart IoT platform globally. It is also the fastest-growing smartphone brand globally and in China.
Since its establishment, Xiaomi has maintained a remarkable growth rate. In 2012, Xiaomi sold 7.19 million smartphones for the full year. In 2013, it sold 18.7 million smartphones. In 2014, it sold 61.12 million smartphones. In 2015, Xiaomi sold over 70 million smartphones. In the second quarter of 2017, it shipped 23.16 million smartphones, and for the full year, it sold 92.4 million smartphones. In 2018, Xiaomi sold over 120 million smartphones, and in 2019, it sold 125 million smartphones. In 2020, Xiaomi sold 146 million smartphones. In terms of market share, Xiaomi has consistently ranked as the fourth-largest smartphone vendor in the world since 2018 and briefly entered the second place in the second quarter of 2021.
