Yili PRO-KIDO, with 21 years of dedication to baby nutrition research, has accumulated tens of millions of nutritional component data. It brings together a global team of over 2,500 top-notch R&D experts, formulating a patented formula for infant formula containing “α-lactalbumin and β-casein and its preparation method” as well as five core patented formulas including multiple nucleotide patents, meeting various nutritional needs for baby growth.

In 2003, Yili initiated independent research on Chinese breast milk. It was the first to establish four high-level research centers in Europe, Oceania, America, and Asia, assembling over a thousand top-tier R&D experts. With an annual R&D expenditure of hundreds of millions, they uncovered the secrets of key nutritional components in breast milk.
The premise of the research is breast milk collection, which is challenging due to cultural and customary influences. Some mothers couldn’t understand Yili’s mission, often resulting in 1-2 out of 10 mothers willing to provide milk after communication. But with such persistent efforts, Yili has been persevering in this task for nearly two decades. Taking into account economic status, dietary habits, and geographical location, Yili chose healthy mothers from seven regions across 20 provinces and autonomous regions in China, scientifically collecting breast milk samples. To date, they’ve accumulated tens of millions of breast milk analysis data, establishing the first “Breast Milk Component Research Database” by a Chinese enterprise. They’ve published 43 papers in English and Chinese in professional journals and secured a total of 74 patents related to infant formula, formulating patented recipes represented by those mentioned above.
In 2020, PRO-KIDO proposed a brand-new proposition: “Chinese Patent Formula, Heritage of Maternal Love”. On May 20, 2020, at the brand upgrade conference themed “Chinese Patents, Guarding the Power of Breast Milk”, they released the “Breast Milk Research White Paper”. By basing their findings on clinical research data for infants, they provided solid scientific evidence for successfully mimicking the nutritional structure of breast milk, incorporating this philosophy and achievement into PRO-KIDO products. “Σ is the summation symbol, so we call this era of replicating the nutritional structure of breast milk the ‘Breast Milk Research Σ Era'”, signifying that Yili PRO-KIDO’s research aligns with international frontiers, propelling the industry into the Σ era of fully systematic breast milk nutrition structure imitation.
In 2021, after 19 years of deep cultivation in baby nutrition, Yili PRO-KIDO already possessed 5 core patented formulas and successfully applied them across its product line.
In 2021, they established a joint research center with the academician team of China Agricultural University and set up a joint laboratory with the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
In 2023, at the conference themed “Decoding Breast Milk Source Code, Launching a New Generation of Super Formula”, Yili PRO-KIDO shared significant achievements of “21 years of decoding the breast milk source code, promoting the modernization of infant formula in China”, receiving validation from both scientific research and clinical practices. The key achievement is innovation throughout the breast milk component database to academic results, elevating China’s baby formula to international leading standards. The “three major innovations and nine leading principles” comprehensively promote the modern development of infant formula in the Chinese style and accelerate the transformation of cutting-edge results in “decoding the breast milk source code” to the “baby bottle”.
