Qihoo 360 has launched a brand of children’s phone watches that allows parents to know their child’s location through a wrist-worn device and a companion smartphone app. Mainly targeting children aged 3 to 12 years, the brand offers products including children’s watches, children’s robots, and story machines.
As a pioneer in China’s children’s phone watch market, 360KIDS released its first location-tracking watch, “360KIDS Guard,” as early as 2013. In 2016, it launched the 4G all-network children’s phone watch, introducing the industry-wide emulated concept of “multi-point positioning.” The brand also created a leading educational children’s community application in China, continuously driving industry development through product and technological innovation.
In May 2016, the 360KIDS’s Watch Spring Launch event was successfully held at the China Film Director Center in Beijing, where the new brand name “BuddyLong Children’s Watch” was unveiled.
The watch features real-time positioning: it is equipped with a professional-grade GPS chip, allowing for instant location tracking. Parents need to install an app on their smartphone and can locate their child by sending a command to the watch. The watch’s base station-assisted positioning system enhances signal reception, ensuring accurate location tracking even in indoor or enclosed environments.
Another highlight is the safety area alert function: The watch’s cloud-based intelligent learning system can automatically identify the safe locations frequently visited by the child wearing the watch. If the child moves out of these safe areas, the system sends an alert to the parent’s mobile phone, indicating potential danger. Parents can also easily set up safe zones to avoid the hassle of constantly checking their child’s location.
Additionally, the watch features call connectivity: Its built-in GSM module allows one-way voice calls, enabling parents to dial into the watch and listen to the surrounding sounds to understand the child’s environment. This feature helps to monitor situations like disputes with peers at kindergarten or unfamiliar environments. Parents can also command the watch to record a 15-second clip of ambient sound. In case of an emergency, these recordings, combined with the positioning feature, can help analyze the child’s surroundings and reduce the chances of disappearance.
