Shanghai Laomiao Gold Co., Ltd. has its origins in the “Shanghai Laotemple Crafts Store,” established in 1982. It was the first gold retail point opened in Shanghai after the State Council approved the domestic resumption of gold jewelry sales. On December 20, 1994, it evolved into the Shanghai Laotemple Gold & Silver Jewelry Company, specializing in gold and jewelry.

On July 28, 1998, it transformed into Shanghai Laomiao Gold Co., Ltd. Over the years, the company’s registered capital has grown from 20 million RMB to 1.1 billion RMB, with assets totaling 1.6 billion RMB.

As the first gold retail enterprise in Shanghai after the reform and opening-up, Laomiao Gold rapidly grew with the rich cultural heritage of the “Laotemple” and “Laomiao” brands. With titles like “Chinese Famous Trademark” and “Chinese Well-Known Brand,” Laomiao Gold has achieved the highest honor in the gold field in Shanghai and even across China. Through collaborations with top international brands like CHRISTIN DIOR, participation in F1 racing events, hosting international jewelry exhibitions, and involvement in “Only Gold” campaigns with the World Gold Council, Laomiao Gold has established a unique brand image in the domestic and international jewelry industry. It has also received awards at various international design competitions. With a strong brand advantage, Laomiao Gold has expanded to the beautiful coastal city, marking a new era of brilliance.

Currently, the company has gold and platinum factories, a diamond company, a platinum company, an international trade company, a cultural gifts company, a precious metal refining company, a jewelry research and testing center, a diamond processing center, as well as the Laotemple flagship store, the Diamond Building, and the Nanjing Road Silver Building. In 2001, the company established Laomiao Gold International Trade Co., Ltd. to actively participate in the international diamond trade to meet WTO requirements. Particularly in the gold retail industry, the company’s leading position is undisputed, with an expanding market share. Sales revenue reached 930 million RMB in 2000 and increased to 1.3 billion RMB in 2001. Laomiao Gold places great emphasis on brand promotion and maintenance, annually allocating nearly 14 million RMB for advertising, with the well-known slogan, “Laomiao Gold brings you good luck.” The company also closely collaborates with the Diamond Trading Company (DTC), the World Gold Council, and the Platinum Guild International, enhancing the recognition of the “Laomiao” brand across China and boosting gold sales in the Laotemple area, making it the largest gold sales center in Shanghai and even in China.

Recognized as the first quality banner in Shanghai’s gold industry, Laomiao Gold has passed ISO9001 international quality certification. The “Laomiao” trademark has also received titles such as “Shanghai Famous Trademark,” “Shanghai Famous Product,” “Key Promotional Business Brand,” and “National Quality Management Advanced Enterprise.” The company was even awarded the Asia’s Best Gold Enterprise by the World Gold Council.

From its beginnings with just two counters, Laomiao Gold has grown to have a registered capital of 8.5 million RMB today. In 1990, the phrase “Laomiao Gold brings you good luck” expressed the Chinese tradition of purchasing gold for value retention, warding off evil, and seeking good fortune. Once launched, it quickly made Laomiao Gold a well-known brand, injecting and accumulating a profound brand culture.

To transform traditional gold and jewelry products into fashionable protagonists, Laomiao Gold partnered with the World Gold Council, the International Platinum Association, and the DTC to jointly invest in creating new concept items such as the “AMOUR True Love” and “Embrace the Sun, Moon, and Stars” series, becoming popular among urban youth.
