The Ora brand is a subsidiary of Great Wall Motors and is the first independent new energy vehicle brand among China’s major domestic car manufacturers. Among Chinese automotive companies, Great Wall was the first to establish new energy vehicle operations as a separate brand under Ora. Great Wall Motors officially launched the Ora brand on August 20, 2018, and the first model, the Ora iQ, was officially launched at the Chengdu Auto Show later that year. On December 26 of the same year, the Ora Black Cat, aimed at the consumer market, was launched.

The research and design team for Ora comes from countries like Germany, Austria, the United States, Japan, and South Korea. Ora also collaborates with international suppliers such as Bosch and Autoliv.

Ora positions itself as a car brand that loves women and is committed to establishing the correct value perspective regarding female users in the industry.

With the launch of the Ora ORA brand, China’s first electric vehicle-exclusive platform, the ME platform, was introduced. It incorporates advanced technology in areas such as intelligence, connectivity, space, safety, and efficiency, achieving substantial breakthroughs.

The Ora brand, developed by Great Wall Motors over a decade, does not involve “gas-to-electric” or “policy-driven” vehicles. It relies on Great Wall’s decades of technological expertise to create the first native pure electric vehicle model, the Ora iQ, providing consumers with more green transportation options and a proven level of quality.

Ora incorporates open design elements and aims to offer the new generation of consumers a range of electric vehicles that are safe, reliable, enjoyable to drive, and filled with driving pleasure.

Great Wall Motors named the brand “Ora” in honor of the scientist Leonhard Euler. The name symbolizes Ora’s commitment to bringing a more fashionable, intelligent, safe, and joyful travel experience and lifestyle to the new generation of urban youth with leading new energy technology, strict quality standards, intelligent products, and forward-thinking models.

The Ora brand logo is derived from an exclamation mark, signifying the company’s determination to create products that surprise consumers. Ora ORA stands for Open, Reliable, and Alternative.
