Sanquan Food Co., Ltd. traces its origins back to Zhengzhou Sanquan Food Factory, founded in 1992 by Mr. Chen Zemin, the current chairman. It is a publicly-owned company primarily focused on the production of frozen foods.

In 1998, the company underwent restructuring and became Zhengzhou Sanquan Food Co., Ltd. In June 2001, it further transformed into Zhengzhou Sanquan Food Co., Ltd., a publicly-owned company, with a registered capital of 43 million RMB.

On November 4, 2003, with approval from the Ministry of Commerce of China, the company increased its capital by 27 million RMB. This capital injection came from three Hong Kong-based investors: Subor Smart Mart Holdings Limited, Changri Investment Limited, and Dongyi Asia Limited. Following this increase in capital, the registered capital of the company changed to 70 million RMB, and its business nature changed to a foreign-invested joint-stock company.

With approval from the China Securities Regulatory Commission, Zhengzhou Sanquan Food Co., Ltd. publicly issued 23.5 million A-shares in January 2008.

Sanquan is known for being the first to produce frozen glutinous rice balls and frozen zongzi in China. Since its inception, the company has upheld the principles of “comprehensive quality management, innovative production processes, and high-quality service.” In just a decade, Sanquan has grown from a small factory into a large frozen food production enterprise occupying over 80,000 square meters with dozens of modern production lines and tens of thousands of tons of low-temperature storage capacity.

Sanquan Food employs over 20,000 people and has 35 branch offices, offices, and factories across China. Their main products include Chinese-style frozen and ambient temperature foods, such as tangyuan, dumplings, zongzi, noodles, and snacks, totaling hundreds of varieties with an annual production capacity of several hundred thousand tons. Sanquan holds a market share of over 20% in China and has consistently been the industry leader for several years.

The company has also expanded its presence in North America, Australia, Europe, Asia, and other regions as key target markets.

Sanquan is one of China’s earliest, largest, and most widely connected producers of frozen foods. The company was the first to obtain the right to import and export products in its industry. A large international-standard production workshop with a daily production capacity of 200 tons has been established and put into operation. Their products have been exported to over ten countries and regions, including the United States, Canada, Singapore, Hong Kong, Macau, and parts of Europe. Sanquan has maintained its position as the top-selling company in the industry in China (with a market share of 19.83% in 2001). It has also obtained ISO9001 and HACCP international certifications.

Sanquan Food’s development has driven the growth of the entire frozen food industry in Zhengzhou and Henan Province, making it a pillar industry for the province. Zhengzhou has become a major production base for frozen foods in China due to this development. Furthermore, it has spurred the deep processing industry for agricultural and sideline products, transportation, and labor re-employment in nearby regions. The production of 100,000 tons of frozen food per year in Zhengzhou alone has provided employment for 50,000 people, helping rural surplus labor and urban laid-off workers, and benefiting hundreds of thousands of people in related industries. Sanquan was the first company in the frozen food industry to be recognized by nine Chinese government ministries as a “National Key Leading Enterprise in Agricultural Industrialization.” It has also been recognized by the State Administration of Taxation as one of the “Top 100 Private Enterprises in China.” Sanquan’s development experience has received recognition from the government and society, making it a model for harmonious development.

Sanquan Food has the only national-level enterprise technology center in the industry and operates the industry’s only post-doctoral research station. The “Sanquan” brand has been recognized as a symbol of the frozen food industry by the China Brand Research Institute and is the only enterprise in the frozen food industry to have been awarded both the “China Famous Trademark” and “China Famous Brand Product” titles.
