Founded in 1958, the company’s predecessor, the state-owned Changhong Machinery Factory, was one of the 156 key projects during China’s “First Five-Year Plan” period and the sole production base for airborne fire control radar at the time. Over the years, Changhong has undergone a strategic shift from solely military production to a combination of military and civilian industries. It has evolved into a diversified and comprehensive multinational conglomerate engaged in research, development, production, sales, and service across various industries, including television, air conditioning, refrigeration, IT, communication, networking, digital technology, chips, energy, commercial electronics, electronic components, and household appliances. Gradually, it has become a globally competitive and influential 3C (Consumer Electronics, Communication, and Computer) information home appliance provider. In 2005, Changhong entered the Fortune Global 500 list. In 2007, the brand value of Changhong reached 58.325 billion RMB.
Changhong currently employs more than 64,000 people, including over 15,000 professionals, including postdoctoral researchers. It has a modern training center, a national-level technology center, and postdoctoral research stations. The company has been designated as a nationally supported enterprise and a technology innovation pilot enterprise.
With its roots in China, Changhong has established digital industrial parks in Guangdong, Jiangsu, Changchun, Hefei, and other places. It has set up research and development bases in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Chengdu, along with over 200 marketing branches in more than 30 provinces and regions across China.
